FQA'S
As a time-saver to both you and us, we created this page of questions we are asked most frequently. We hope you find your answer here. If not, simply call or e-mail us and we’ll get you an answer as soon as possible!
Q - How many players must I have?
A - You need 5 players to start an event. Most teams have between 10 to 12 players. We have found that 8-10 is the easiest to coach.
Q - What size ball is used?
A - (28.5) Size ball will be used for all girls divisions and 6th grade boys divisions and below. A regular size ball for all other divisions will be used.
Q - Where can I find my weekend playing schedule?
A - 5 to 10 days before the event you will find your schedule on this web site. If it is a Specialty event you may know your game time at the same time you register for the event.
Q - Where can I find game results?
A - 2 to 3 days after the event we will post results on this web site. You will be notified by e-mail if you have given us a deliverable e-mail address.
Q - My team received fewer games than guaranteed. Do we get a refund?
A - If the director made a mistake and did not schedule you for the guaranteed amount of games, then yes, you can get a partial refund. If a team simply did not show up, we can try to get another team to fill in during that time slot but since officials are paid, and court time rented, there is no refund due. We encourage all teams to show for all events, and we never accept a team without payment so this is rare. If you have a problem at an event, always feel free to give us a call. If you are shorted, another option is to get another developmental game in a future event. The choice is yours.
Q - What happens if a Player/Coach/Fan shows poor sportsmanship?
A - We take the stand of ZERO Tolerance in the department of SPORTSMANSHIP. This is Not the NBA, this is youth and adult basketball. We expect all Players, Coaches, Parents, and Spectators in the stands, to be on their best behavior. All players, coaches, and spectators are expected to show respect toward game officials, players, fans, tournament volunteers, and staff. Verbal and/or physical abuse, including profanity, will not be tolerated.
Any misconduct may result in disqualification from the tournament for the individual(s) and/or team involved. All teams must have an adult coach who will be on the bench during all game situations, including warm-ups, post-game, and medal presentations. We believe that all youth players should have responsible adult supervision to enforce sportsmanlike attitudes and behaviors.
It is expected that all adults, family members and fans in a team’s delegation set an example of good sportsmanship, and if necessary, enforce a spirit of good sportsmanship, and respect among their team and its supporters. Have fun and enjoy the YSA experience and use the events to future develop your game and your teams game.
Q - Some Coaches stand the whole game constantly instructing from the sidelines. Is there a rule restricting this style of coaching?
A - One coach is considered a head coach and can stand in a coach’s box to coach their team. All others must sit. Only the head coach is allowed to communicate with the officials.
Q - Do you charge a Gate Fee?
A - All Players, 2 Coaches (who are listed on the team registration form) are FREE. Most events have a $7.00 door charge per day for everyone and kids 7 & under are free or a tournament pass may be offered. We have taken into consideration big families who bring sister/brothers. We encourage Grandparents to support their grandchildren. To help pay for officials, building use, the nice trophies, beautiful event books, staff to run and prepare the event, we need to charge a small fee. Our event prices are below market price for the same amount of games. We thank you in advance for your help in providing some of the best sporting events around.
Q - What are the rules concerning eligibility?
A - Grade Based. (You cannot be 2 years older than your grades normal age)
Q - What are the discount packages for?
A - Discount Packages are for those teams who want to plan out their whole season, and end with a National Tournament. This is a better deal for your team to take advantage of our discounted when you plan your seasons with us.
Q - If I register for a 4-event package and then I add another date, what do I need to do?
A - Just speak to our National Director and we’ll make sure you get another event added at the discounted participation pricing.
